New Zealand’s premiere high-stealth, laser-powered band of brothers Heavy Metal Ninjas are all about the metal – always were, always will be.
Lead by Ibanez-endorsed guitar virtuoso (and long-time Kora guitarist) Richie Allan, HMN formed in 2010 as the result of years of metal jams after Kora shows – with Kora brothers Stu and Fran on guitar and bass respectively, and Joe Brownless on drums.
With the addition of fellow Ibanez-endorsed guitarist Brandon Reihana (Blindspott, New Way Home) the clan was complete – ready to unleash an epic multisensory assault on a jaded hard rock & metal scene.
The Ninjas take metal showmanship to levels never seen before in Aotearoa, delivering an onslaught of cinematic, riff-driven instrumentals whilst dressed in full ninja regalia – accompanied by an impressive light show that includes lasers beaming from the tips of their lightspeed-shredding fingers.
A local favourite for whipping wallflower rock & metal crowds into an energised frenzy, the Ninjas have toured with Shihad, torn the house down at the G-Taranaki guitar festival, supported international legends like Coheed and Cambria, Living Colour, Protest the Hero and I Built The Sky, and built a dedicated following of riff-worshipers across Australasia and beyond.
With one album (“Interstellar Abduction”, released through Warner Music NZ and Grindhouse Records Japan) under their fretboards, a sophomore release is in the works.
